Hosting: 12 Hungarian Students for the STEAM Explorers Project

From October 5th to October 12th, 2025, twelve students from the Hungarian national secondary school “Nézsai Mikszáth Kálmán Szlovák Nemzetiségi Általános Iskola” were welcomed in Foligno, Italy.

During this one-week mobility, the students attended the STEAM Explorers course at the Melanzio-Parini Comprehensive School in Montefalco–Castel Ritaldi, Italy. This school is distinctive for bringing together two rural communities under one educational network, with a strong focus on inclusion, community involvement, and innovative projects such as robotics and the arts.

The STEAM Explorers project is one of the educational programmes delivered by EGInA’s trainers, Bianca, documentary photographer, and Gabriele, full stack developer. Throughout the week, students explored how the environment—particularly vegetal world—is evolving in the contemporary world through a variety of classes and hands-on experiments. This experience also offered students the opportunity to discover the Italian school system.

Every morning, all students attended lessons at the Melanzio-Parini Comprehensive School in Montefalco–Castel Ritaldi, where they developed knowledge of plants through vegetal observation, scientific inquiry, and laboratory activities using soft technologies. Experimental sessions introduced students to coding, sensor applications, and scientific experimentation. In the afternoons, they had the opportunity to enjoy and explore the beautiful city of Foligno.

During their stay, the students also visited the historic towns of Assisi, Spello, and Santa Maria degli Angeli. These immersive visits provided a valuable opportunity to discover Italian art, history, and cultural heritage. Overall, this short but unforgettable experience in the Green Heart of Italy allowed students to deepen their learning while engaging with Italian culture.
