A new Erasmus+ adventure has brought seven students and three teachers from Dobele Vocational and General Secondary School (DAVV), Latvia, to Foligno, Umbria, for two weeks of learning, professional experience and cultural discovery.
From 13 to 26 September, the group took part in an internship programme organised and hosted by EGInA, with students gaining hands-on experience in the worlds of restaurants and hospitality. The culinary training is taking place at Premiata Officina del Gusto, while the hospitality students are welcomed by Hotel Italia, Hotel Valentini and Hotel Villa dei Platani.
But the Erasmus+ experience goes far beyond the workplace! During their first weekend, the group had the opportunity to discover some of Umbria’s most beautiful places. In Assisi, they explored the city and its surroundings by e-bike, accompanied by Roberto, a member of EGInA’s hosting team, and thanks to the bike rental company Viva.
The group also travelled to Rome, enjoying a memorable day in the Italian capital together with Giulio.

And the adventure continued! Students took part in a workshop at I Primi d’Italia, one of Foligno’s most renowned festivals, where they discovered the secrets and traditions of making homemade pasta.
The teachers had their own learning opportunity: they visited CNOS-FAP (Casa del Ragazzo) in Foligno, a Salesian vocational and professional school, to exchange ideas, discover different teaching approaches and share experiences from their respective educational systems.
From kitchens and hotels to historic cities, traditional food and innovative teaching methods, this Erasmus+ mobility is creating opportunities to learn, connect and experience Italy together — while building bridges between Latvia and Umbria that can last well beyond these two weeks.
